At age 76, Ian Nichols — an Anglican priest who has been blind for nearly 40 years — becomes one of the first people in the world to attempt to regain sight with an implanted bionic eye. Melding intimate first-person verité with cinematic memory sequences and depth camera animation, the film captures one man’s remarkable journey to redefine the boundaries of human perception and technology.

The Ad Council’s Love Has No Labels is a public service advertising campaign that encourages people to examine and challenge their own implicit bias. For years, kiss cams have been a big part of American sports culture. In Fans of Love, Love Has No Labels puts a twist on the kiss cam by turning it into a symbol for unbiased love. In the stadium, fans cheered for love in all its forms—regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or religion.

Greg was nominated in 2023 for Best Cinematography at the Jackson Wild Film Festival and spoke on the panel “How the hell did they get that shot?”. This is the presentation of his work shared during the panel, filmed in both V/SPEED’s L-39 Camera Jet as well as the Phenom Camera Ship during the filming of America the Beautiful.

Nearly three-fourths of the fire departments in the United States are volunteer, as is the case in Connecticut. Nearly all volunteer fire departments across the state are facing staffing shortages, with fewer and fewer citizens stepping up to volunteer as older generations retire. Attempting to engage new audiences with a cinematic flair, the PSA campaign "See You Out There" was written and directed by Matthew Troy, a volunteer firefighter and filmmaker, and produced in partnership with the CT Fire Chiefs Association and International Association of Fire Chiefs. The first project I worked on with EP Mike Knockenhauer was a passion project on humanitarian flight. It transformed our perspective and laid the foundation for what became V/SPEED.

Always striving to deliver new perspectives, chasing 3-time aerobatic national champion Jeff Boerboon through the sky in the airshow monster the YAK-110 for LIFT AVIATION was a blast.

“AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL,” narrated by Michael B. Jordan, is the jaw-dropping story of North America’s picturesque lands and its amazing animals. We take a journey through the mountainous Northwest, the steamy South, the arid West and the endless Heartland to witness the animals of North America overcoming the elements and thriving.

Ride along with me and the rest of the V/SPEED team as we get unclose and personal with some of the most violent forces on earth. I’ve had many “firsts” in cinematography and have always tried to find new ways to move the camera or place it where it’s never been before but capturing storms for Disney+’s America the Beautiful was one of the move thrilling sequences I have ever been part of. As a long time storm chaser, I knew the level of detail and focus from the entire team would be critical to not only do this safely but to capture imagery that would truly change perspectives on weather and the forces that create it, we would need to have the best people in the world in each position. Much more to come on this style of work, we’re just getting started.
